Early morning was a challenge to figure out what they would take, loads of activity, loads of hatches going off. Eventually found that a size 20+ sedge skimmed under any cover would get an awesome surface take.

Once the public were up the top section was unfishable, with dogs and kids flinging rocks in the river. The middle section where it narrows and drops down the white water was the start of the really productive water, between the rapids and the fallen over tree was the section where I took all but one fish.

Epic day, but frustrating beat when I had to let the beats cool down continually due to folks, swimming or kids flinging rocks, dogs chasing sticks etc.

Lots of fishing on this beat, access not always straightforward on either bank, due to steep sides and trees. However, still plenty of places to access but the easier parts are also busy with walkers and dogs - the big island was worth getting across, to fish the variety of pools and runs.
Mainly overcast and a light breeze made it cooler than last couple of days. River lovely and clear. Hatch started around lunchtime and lots of surface feeding, tended to be in short spurts, so you needed to be ready!
Helen found a great spot and caught two nice trout, on dry flies. Both released.

Water rising, but still low, and no sign of fish moving. One trout, no sign of the salmon. A day more of hope than expectation. The bridge pool looked very promising, but no sign of life. Good to see the pub was open!
