River was bank high but running almost clear, making wading dangerous as well as the water being cold. A few midges about and I saw two or three large dark olives as well as rising one fish close to the bank in slacker water. The only trout, at around 12" came to a tungsten beaded hairs ear on the end of a team of wet flys. Several other tugs and bumps to the wet flys but all in all a good day considering conditions and how little of the water could be accessed when it is that high. In a few weeks it should be amazing.

This was my first time fishing the Usk, Llangynydr is a stunning location not far from Crickhowell , a very small village but lots of people here today as there was a festival happening.
Access to the river is good , parking is pretty close , lovely little shop in the village where you can get a slice of cake and a cuppa , which I did , very nice !
The track along the river is very rocky and slippy , if your not very surefooted be careful, I love anything like this though .
Unfortunately there were lots and lots of swimmers in here today , lots of commotion , it was to be expected though due to the great weather, and it being a bank holiday weekend .
Gave the fishing a good go but no success today , but on the positive side a great day here on the Usk , just beautiful. Will return in early spring when it’s less busy

Sadly the water was too high and fast after heavy rain so I did not fish. Looks like a great beat for tout. I shall be back to try it when the conditions are better

An enjoyable day, though conditions challenging. two reasonable size fish hooked, but lost both :0( Three men fished through the beat with spinners whilst I was fishing, which was rather frustrating!

Fine day. Overcast and sunny spells. River looking good. Caught 1 WBT on blank klinkhammer on one of the lovely glides at the start of the beat. Lost 2 or 3 in similar location. Note was vet politely told that you may not park in the post office car park.

Quite difficult conditions with frequent showers of much needed rain but river very low. A fair amount of fly life hatching mostly bright yellow bodies. No luck with gold heads so switched to dry even though no rises. Had a few rises to a yellow dry and managed to hook one. Later had two on a small yellow emerger at top of beat. Watched otters playing for ten minutes fifteen yards from me and decided to leave it to the experts!
