Sadly the day was ruined by another group of white water trainees, swimming and wading in the river. This has been reported.

Started on flats but no rises and fish not responding to nymphs or spiders. Around midday found few rising fish but on farside of unwadeable pool and in slack water on farside of current. Unable to cover properly. Party of 7 canooists wandered through, claimed they were kayakers not canooists and didnt respond to my requests but continued theirway through beat.

A sparkling Spring afternoon accompanied by a helpful upstream breeze, stunning surroundings and a trickle of March Browns. Little activity but I managed to miss all three rises on the point fishing NZ style. A bit rusty after the Winter. This was only a short session; I had to stop when I could no longer feel my legs!

Strong downstream gale made casting tricky. V short hatch around midday that got a few fish rising but mostly on far side which meant by the time I got into position to cast the hatch had stopped. Caught a nice trout on a swung wet fly when the wind really got going. Thanks to WUF.

A typical early season day on the river. LDO's and a few March browns coming off from noon until 3pm and the odd fish rising in a slightly cautious manner. All fish took a quill bodied deer hair emerger size 16 with the biggest a plump 15".

A few LDO and the odd march brown. I saw 3 or 4 tentative rises in the afternoon but didn't manage to temp any trout.

The river was clear but pushing through a little making wading a little more precarious than usual. A modest LDO hatch and a few short flurries of March Browns had a handful of fish rising. I lost a good 2lb fish on the spider but then got a 2lber on a CDC Dun. A couple more to the Jingler followed. By 2pm, the flies were gone and the sport stopped.
