Water a little high for confident fishing on this beat with water lapping over the top of my chest waders on more than one occasion, so not easy fishing. Nothing seen or caught.

A lovely day in beautiful sceenery. 9 brown trout between us on dry and nymph. Between 6" nd 12" in size, all returned. NW wind made casting tricky, sunny and fresh. River was clear, fast and fairly low. Highlight was being startled by a huge 4ft long fish swimming up a deep channel under my nose! Only to see it more clearly a few meters away as an Otter.

Just two small Brownies between us (9" apiece). Water very clear (I think they could see us coming!). A few fish rising but nothing consistent so hard to get them to the dry fly. A couple of missed takes as well. Pale Yellow Parachute and Light Olive the taking flies.
Sporadic hatches throughout the day. Weather was mild with a bit of light rain. A downstream breeze made presentation difficult but that's the price you pay for being a diehard dry fly addict.
Both fish returned.

First time on this beat which is both picturesque and interesting fishing. However, the water was falling and with no fish showing except for a few small spashy rises in the shallows the end result was a blank.

Very straightforward booking process. I didn't arrive at the beat until half past four.
By the time I had walked the beat (avoiding a family of picnickers and swimmers) and decided that the inviting looking Corner Pool was unsafe to wade far enough out due to the height of the water and the uneven bedrock and boulder combination footing. I didn't start fishing the Lower Flats until almost six. I did enjoy this very beautiful and interesting beat though. Inspite of abundant hatches of various Olives and Sedge I was surprised by the lack of rising fish in the evening. I only managed to land one wbt of about 3/4 of a pound, caught on a quill body Olive dun imitation.
Thanks very much for a very pleasant evening's fishing, I'll be back next year.

A good day with 10 x WBT to 14", all returned. Plenty more missed - could easily have doubled my tally. Several fish taken on red midge pattern fished deep in the morning. Others came up to small F-fly and Olive patterns later on.
