Firstly I have to endorse the opinions of others about this beat. River access is extremely limited, with only two fishable swims in the first field. Access appears better in the second field but only because the resident cows have broken down the bank so you fish these spots with your tackle at some risk. Exit from the parking area is also extremely perilous.

Moan over, one of the two available swims gives access to the deeper water under the willows and alders mentioned in the beat profile and produced 6 good Chub to around 5lb in 5 hours fishing , all on ledgered luncheon meat. Sadly no Barbel

River fairly up for the time of year with a rusty colour but swim access because of above and showers quite slippery awkward. When the river is up locals recommend the use of a spike and rope. Fish caught on the bottom feeder various baits boilies, meat, pellets. All enjoyable but be careful on exit from the parking area to the main road. This is totally blind and I wondered if a concealed exit slow down sign plus a mirror set to see oncoming traffic would improve this for safety.

The forest on the hillside behind the fishery sets a wonderful backdrop and another beautiful part of Herefordshire. Fished from 1-8 and would recommend The Carrots pub to discuss the day over a Guinness which is excellent.

River conditions quite a good flow turning the colour brown. This is a wilder place to fish perhaps needs care on bank steepness and access where fish holes exist. Used feeder pellet, meat and corn. No Barbel our main quarry. Great feeling of isolation and peace and quiet.

7 chub caught ranging between 2 and 4.5lb. Lovely beat, shame a number of swims are very tricky to get access to.
