Only fished the morning as we had a long drive back. Caught & released a shad on spinner and also a lovely 1lb wild brown trout on a wet fly & a SH outfit. Saw one salmon heading downriver but they wouldn't co-operate in the bright sunshine. Lovely beat though and will certainly be back next season.

The river was in fine winter condition so no excuse for having a blank but I did. Tried all the things that have worked in the past but not today. Lots of knocks but that was it. It was a very bright day with a slight frost the night before - perhaps that was the reason for the dry net. Thanks as always to w u f for giving us the chance to fish great beats like this and taking my booking at such notice.

River high but clear appart from the Luggsmouth Pool which had a brown slick running down the far bank. Only had 2 fish all day, a 4lbs chub and a 7lbs barbel, both caught on 12mm x2 halibut pellets. Can't wait until my next visit to this beat, thanks WUF.

Nice day for a white wedding and thats it, total peasouper on the way and back from Essex. Wonderfull Wye (usually) very full and fast but not flooded. On its way down actually but unfishable due to debris on every single cast. Far and wide had no problem driving my 2wd car to fishing hut and back allthough farmer had tied gate shut and my vehicle became the main attraction to a heard of cows and in turn covered it in hair, saliva and excrement (nice) but other wildlife fantastic. Saw two kingfishers trying it on to not much avail. Bad day but fished this beat twice before and had excelent sport so will be back next year. Probbaly try different beats in future, thanks Wye and Usk, two chub bites missed.

Struggled on a beat I've not seen at normal levels which didn't help as river up and pushing through. Had one chub between us although was 5lb 9oz so a decent one. Thanks WUF, will be back in Summer.

Second time on river Wye. Arrived at 7.30am. Temperature 3 degrees celsius. River was flooded, water level high and the speed super fast. 4oz feeder would not stay in the place where I wanted until hit some rock. I started near to Luggsmouth. I tried to cast to place where water flow was little bit slower. Stayed there till 2pm. Nothing there. Then I moved near to the fishing hut and finally I caught my first Barbel ever 5lbs/64cm. Soon after first came second, 5lbs/68cm. Later 1 chub. Then everything get quiet. Nice place, long walk from the carpark, but ok for me. If you have 4x4 you could drive near to the river I guess. Be careful when leaving, impossible to see to the right. I will be back one day.

Good start, ended badly. River pushing hard but fishable early on. A 7lb 6oz barbel and two around 5lb from a crease swim below hut after switching from pellet to garlic Spam. River then started to come up fast and kept rising, wrecking that swim and most others. Not another touch. At leaving time, solved dangers of dreaded exit gate (point the car up the steep ramp at an oblique angle and wait until its dark enough to pick up headlights) but found another. Someone had refastened the makeshift loop of barbed wire on the gate so tightly (must have used gloves and pliers) as to make closure almost permanent. Ten minutes of bloody struggle and a gashed thumb later,I remembered the forceps in the tackle bag and escaped a predicament caused by what seemed to me a pointed and mean-spirited action, since it was clear an angler remained on site.

Water low and clear, cold the previous few nights. Rained all day - and I mean ALL day! Small chub and 1 small barbel.
