Again thanks to owner for great access - probably the best on the books. Not the access track though - which is now in a different position than on the w and u map. Access track is a deeply rutted track with thick grass between. I wouldn't risk it with anything other than a 4x4.

Fish just up of the well fished bottom pool for 4 chub on the meat feeder during a short morning session. No bites on pellet. Had to leave early - not my choice as the plan was to fish the fastest water at the top boundary as fish seem to be in the shallow fast water this time of year. Hooked a dogged mystery fish when the rig dropped off the rod end in shallow water while unhooking a chub. Was fishing double 8mm pellet on a band and one must have stayed on. The only thing I could think off as it slipped the hook was a foul hooked pike. Wish I had seen it.

ps why can't redbank anglers use the same track for cars at it goes right past their downstream stile access?

River was about 9 inches up when we arrived and dark brown. The colour was unnaturally dark for the water level. We had not seen this depth of colour even when the river had flooded the Holme Lacy meadows upstream.
The fish were incredibly shy biting and this was despite the beat being lightly fished over the last month. We switched baits regularly including meat cheese sweetcorn boilies and bread.
The beat is superbly maintained and had been recently strimmed. We fished most swims and the best fishing was in the middle section both under the willows and close in off the croys.

All fish caught in fast water. Barbel are definitely on the gravels. One of the barbel went to 8.11. Mostly caught on Robin Red pellets. Nicely maintained fishery in most parts. 3 of the barbel came from the shallow fast water at the upstream end of the fishery.

River high and I suspect rising further with the amount of rain today, high winds too. Barbel up to 3 1/2 lbs and the other was a dace. Fish caught off Upper and Lower Sallys. Tough day weatherwise that curtailed the amount of hours.

River in spate with a heavy colour. One angler stayed in one place on the feeder catching chub up to 1-1.5 lb, plus chublets. Roaming proved more successful on a float with really fine access to a lovely stretch of river. Chub caught by roaming to 2.5 lbs.

Well done to the landowner here for maintaining the banks to get the best out of what the water has to offer. Saw a couple of Salmon moving through one cleared the water just 15 feet from my rod tip. Coarse anglers are lucky to fish here as this is obviously a productive well kept Salmon section.

Thanks Fishing Passport for the chance to experience a pristine stretch of the Wye.

River level was high with a very strong flow, managed to find some slack water just before the end of Pylon swim, but the shingle beach was completely covered. Caught a few chub but not much doing.

A pleasant days fishing, we both settled into swims on Upper Sallys. We caught Chub to 4lb on both feeder and also trotting the float using meat and pellet. Unfortunately no Barbel were caught.
The drive to the hut around the edge of the field could be greatly improved if the tall grass in the middle of the track was cut back, at one point it was like driving through the grasslands of the Serengeti.
