First time fishing this beat.
Arrived 0930 parked at lower end and fish were rising! I think to remnants of yesterdays hatch. I tried various patterns of match brown/ldo imitations but very fussy and died off soon. 2 further periods of surface activity to MB hatches lasting ~15 mins between 11 and 1. I had one fish above the road bridge that broke me off. After this very sporadic single rises but nothing much. Couldn’t tempt any on dries. Left at 3pm.
As expected lots of dog walkers throwing in sticks and kids throwing rocks etc.

5 caught to nymphs in a 1hour period between 11a.m and twelve noon , with 4 being lost near the net . There was a very brief hatch of march browns which rose several fish but by the time I'd got second rod off backpack it ended and the river died instantly . I went back to nymphing for an hour but not a touch . Nice stretch of water the few hundred metres I fished

Beautiful sunny day, around 16c by midday. Usk town gauge at 0.5, water clear and fast, nice wading height mostly.
My wife caught the first trout, around 1.5lbs, euro nymphing below the island between the bridges, caught on a blowtorch nymph.
At about 12 some ldo's started to trickle off and by 12.30 we started to see some rises. I put on a parachute olive dun and fished the flats just below the footbridge where I hooked a beautiful fish I had seen rising, unfortunately threw the fly after a short fight. 2 minutes later I hooked another and landed. My first of the season and on a dry!
