A slow start at the bottom bend pool with just a Chub to show for my efforts. Moved upstream and found some Barbel feeding, 4 nice fish between 7 and 9.12lbs. Still waiting for my first Wye double!

We fished for 7 days in the period leading up to the 18th. Our daily catch fluctuated depending on conditions but we had a total of 38 barbel in the period with the largest fish at 10lb 2oz. Chub were scarce, our best was 4lb 4oz.

The river was up about 4 feet with wads of debris coming down and the influx of a lot of cold water seemed to have put the barbel off the feed. It was a tough day with just a chub and 5lb barbel banked on pellet. It was still great to out, rounded off with a chat with Colin, the ever helpful and friendly baliff.

A tough day on this usually productive beat, with the river still racing through and very coloured. We started off on the bend at the bottom of the beat, but after one 5lb barbel to RB in 4 hours it was time to take the roving approach. RW eventually found some feeding barbel and caught 3 up to 7.5lb on pellet. 5oz was necessary to hold bottom in most swims.

River conditions atrocious. High, rising and the colour of milk chocolate. Fishing virtually impossible but had a go. Actually caught an eel but that was all. River continued to rise throughout the day. We had some nice views of floating trees!!

Although the river looked spot on and thinning down nice, we only managed a couple of barbel and chub of no size on feeder fished scolded pellets and paste.

River appeared to have dropped slightly but soon began to rise very quickly. 2 Rods managed 4 Barbel & 2 Chub in difficult conditions. Pellet & meat accounted for the fish. Will be back.

A pretty slow day despite the favourable river colour and overcast conditions. Fished at the lower limit of the beat intially, but no action. Moved to Hut Pool and had 3 Barbel each to about 7lb. Despite the small amount of fish a lovely day out as always.
