River still very high and very few swims available. I could not find the barbel this afternoon but finished with lovely 3 chub, all in the 4-5lb bracket. The "other" was a most unexpected decent roach estimated at 1.25 - 1.5lbs.

Generally a good day ....9 barbel caught between three Angler’s plus two other fish.
Many thanks to Colin who recovered a lost landing net that had started heading for Monmouth!

9 Barbel, 1 Chub, 1 Pike

When you are fishing for Barbel you really don’t expect to hook a 14lb pike but that’s what happened today! True enough it took the bait when I was retrieving to refill the feeder and cast out again. What was more amazing is that it didn’t bite through the 8 lb hook link! That was the second of two pike caught (the first one was only about 4lb). My mate caught two barbel 7lb and 5lb. And lost a third.

Arrived midday. I knew it was high but decided to give it a go. Was far too high and dangerous to fish. Was looking forward to trying this venue. Drove back home without getting my tackle out car ☹️
