Fished 6am to noon and regularly caught both chub and barbel, although difficult to get through the chub. Finished at noon with 20 barbel in the session.
Returned to fish a further 3 hours from 6:30pm and caught a further 9 barbel. Fish are generally smaller than other beats, the largest about 6lb, and 2 or 3 were probably only 1lb or just over. Average fish was between 4lb - 5lb.
I found the best way to get at the barbel was to fish a 10mm pellet on a very long hair rig. I then tried to ignore the strong pulls from chub, every time the bait hit the water. If I managed to get a bait on to the bottom, without a chub hooking itself, then I had a good chance with the barbel.
The larger fish tended to have lice behind their fins, which I was able to clean off, the small fish were in very good condition. Water was very low and clear, but far less weed than the previous day on another beat.
Some of the chub were a very good size with 3 or 4 easily topping 5lb.

Only fished the morning until 1.00pm. Wish it had been the other way round, caught 6 Barbel and 17 Chub!!! When the sun got fully on the river, at one stage I counted 50-60 Chub cruising the surface. Once again the river low and the weather hot.

Lovely day, walked down to the usual spot to find a shoal of about 50 chub just basking on the surface. Caught Chub from the surface with bubble float and bread flake. The barbel were caught in the morning and evening from the river bottom on the corner with halibut pellets. Biggest Barbel just over 8Lbs. Thanks WUF
