Water still perhaps a bit high and slightly coloured for trout fishing, so action was a bit slow in most catches.
The only take in the Leaning Willow pool produced a lovely fish of over 2lb, but the others were modest in size.
Nice to see grayling in numbers for the first time this season. A fair number of others wriggled off.
This famous old Wye beat is looking a bit worse for wear now, with the numerous concealed pot holes in the overgrown paths posing a risk, and ferns over head height in places. It would be nice if the hut had a spruce up as well.
Hopefully the new owners have a plan.

DO NOT USE THE UPSTREAM PARKING SPACE TO THE HUT UNLESS YOU HAVE A 4X4. The track is very poorly maintained and there is thick layer of mud which combined with the steep gradient make it unsuitable for normal cars. I got stuck down there and had to pay for 24/7 rescue. This should be on the description.
Fishing ok. 2x decent trout and an accidental shad.

Only 7” on the gauge today but cool and overcast with slight drizzle. Wading was “interesting” as usual at this height with underfoot conditions more like an ice rink than a riverbed in some spots. I saw more rising fish today than for some time, but only managed to tempt 2 to the surface to take an olive emerger pattern during the occasional sparse medium olive hatches. The others came to the usual assortment of wets and nymphs throughout the beat. Biggest trout was only 9”, but 2 nice grayling to 14”.
