Had a pretty good day today. Nothing big but plenty of fish throughout the day. I can’t remember how many chub but probably more than twelve and three barbel too. The barbel were only around 5lb or so but most enjoyable.
This is a lovely beat with pretty good access to the water. Would recommend.

Unfortunately with the low river levels finding accessible swims in large parts of the beat was difficult and with the persistent rain during the day the few access points became rather treacherous. I opted to don the waders and get with my quarry. I spent a few hours trotting meat and corn around the crib to no avail before moving to the faster water downstream of the suspension bridge. Feeding hemp and trotting corn soon resulted in some chub. After pre-baiting a fast run opposite the croy from the beach with hemp I switched to feeder and pellet in the afternoon. First cast resulted in a nice barbel and this was followed by 6 more to about 8lb and half a dozen chub. Bites were on a regular basis throughout the afternoon. Difficult conditions, rather wet but always a joy to be fishing the Wye.

River very low and sun very hot all day - not a recipe for a full day's sport and so it proved. Early chub and a decent barbel but then very quiet with just the odd chub until pub time at 5.30.

Very poor. The bottom section of the fishery is now used for picnics, swimming and dog exercising. It’s an expensive day ticket and unfortunately there is no control of these activities. It really was a rather wasted day on a very low level.

Trotted meat, and pellets from the beach down into the bottom pool for most of the day catching chub from chublets to a few of 5lb plus, as the whole of the rest of the beach was being used by swimmers. Moved upstream to a likely looking spot where barbel had been crashing in the trees on the far bank, as their numbers dwindled, and had 2 barbel around 8lb even though there was still plenty of commotion going on, on the feeder. Tried the croys at the top on my way back out but these swims seemed devoid of life apart from the odd small chub.

River very low. Cloudy during periods when fish caught. Ledger and rolling pellet.
Access to river edge for the middle half of the beat very steep and overgrown inhibiting many except those with advanced jungle training and climbing skills.

River low, cloudy for morning and early afternoon.
Fly only, Numerous fry and rising fish, except no obvious signs of salmon presence.
Flashy salmon flies received no offers but barbless more imitative patterns were intervened by more sporting chub.
