Conditions were good and there were fish showing but the closest I got was a single tug. One of the other fishermen did have a good take but it was on and off. So a disappointing end to my season.

Beautiful morning and headed for Caradoc on the basis that there were fish throughout the river and I needed to find one who wasn't used to seeing heavy fly traffic. Began fishing below the suspension bridge with a No12 Usk Grub (fly du jour it seems) and had a very gently pull just below the young Oak tree, resulting in a 12lb Hen fish- my first of the season, and safely returned. Fished on with blustery conditions getting worse and stepped down to a small Size 14 Red Francis, but this was too much for the local brownies to resist, so went back to a larger Temple Dog for the rest of the day. Stunning sequence of fly water, although lots of dogs / horses / walkers / swimmers treating it as a beach didn't help as the day went on....Big smile and happy to forgive anyone on two or four paws today though!

Saturday 17th September - fished the crib hole feeding with sweet corn had several bites losing two really good fish caught chub after losing many swim feeders to a rocky bottom.
Sunday 18 - fished above the strongon after catching a reasonable size chub the swim never produced another bite bad news if you were fishing the links run due to a whole host of canoeist gathering.
Personally I felt for cost not good.

£45 is an outrageous amount. Nice place and 5 barbel but no effort has been put in by the Foundation to create any decent swims. In fact from the entrance to the bridge there are few accesable swims unless you want to fish fast shallows. Won't go on this stretch again.
WUF Note: There are several croys from which to fish upstream of the bridge at Caradoc that give access to deeper water.

A hot sunny day with the river low and clear. As anyone knows when you fish this stretch on a hot summers day, don't expect a nice quiet days fishing. Apart from the usual canoes and paddle boarders, most of the local population turn up with their dogs and children and seem to be determined to interfere as much as possible with anglers fishing by swimming up and down through the anglers swims despite there being 100's of yards of unoccupied bank where they could have swam until their hearts content with out directly interfering with anglers. Apart from that, had 6 barbel up to high 7's and a few chub.
At £45.00 this stretch is very expensive so one would expect the land owner to have some control over the local population (who seem to have little respect for other river users) on his land..!

I was fishing with one other and we elected to fish the bottom of the fishery with a sort of gravel beach. ideal spot. whereas the main river was low slow and sluggish, this stretch has a bit of depth and pace . I managed one small chublet, my colleague fishing a mere 30 feet away managed 6 barbel in tough, hot sunny conditions which included swimmers showing zero consideration coming right through our swims, canoes, bbq's, dogs and, for 5 minutes, somebody flying a drone right above us. but having said all that it is a beautiful spot and will return but probably not in july/aug in a hot sunny spell.
