Fished the peg almost opposite the fishermans hut on the crib. It looked fantastic but was very clear and the level appeared to be below normal as the bay on the opposite bank ( point of the small island ) was only a few inches deep. Sat for probably 4 hours without a bite using every method and bait I had with me includung Halibut, elips, pellets, boilies, luncheon meat in all sizes..feeding hemp and barbel bomb (hinders) through a feeder. Was really disappointed so decided to move downstream to a peg on a concrete and stone ledge under a big tree having sat there for another 2 hours I eventually had 2 barbel about 5lb on 8mm pellets.. all in all a disappointing days fishing but loved the location and views. My two mates managed to catch 4 chub and 2 barbel between them. One of the barbel was over 8lb but again not a very impressive day considering all 3 of us are experienced Barbel anglers. We put it down to the condition of the river level. But will be back to give it another go.

A cooler and overcast day with hopes high for a better result than on Monday. Although the fish weren't jumping on the hook, we did find the fish in the deeper water again. 8 Barbel caught between us and 3 chub - best barbel at 7.5lb all on either meat or pellet.

After a fine week and a clearing and falling river we struggled, catching 10 barbel and the same number of chub between 4 of us. Best chub 4.5lbs. Best barbel 7lbs. All fish fell to the usual pellet feeder tactics with long periods of inaction in between. Lots of canoeists - some landed - though generally fine, apart from the group that came down in T formation - which was a little trying. Nevertheless another lovely day on the Wye.

Foggy start leading to a bright sunny day. 12 Barbel and a smattering of Chub mostly caught top end to middle of fishery on pellet and groudbait tactics. A little disappointing end result, perhaps we should not have such high expectations of both the River and our own angling skills. Thanks to WUF for giving us the opportunity anyway still a wonderfull place to spend a day with friends.

Hot, sunny day which probably accounted for slow sport until late afternoon/early evening. Two rods caught 8 superbly conditioned barbel between 6-8 pounds and 8 chub up to just under 5 pounds. River at good Summer level with nice pace and a tinge of colour. Most fish came from croys at top end of the fishery to pellet baits.

Another interesting and worthwhile day on Caradoc. Struggled in the morning fishing the usually productive bottom end but a move upstream produced the goods. Ended up with 4 barbel and 4 chub between two rods. Largest chub went exactly 5lb.

Good stretch of river to fish with easy access to water (you can drive to and park at your swim when it's not too wet).
River was coloured with a fare pace and lots of boiling water very hot and bright. 2 rods, one fished close in to bank under over hanging tree, the other fished in main flow.
Most fish taken through the day with a couple at last light, not what was expected. Bank rod took 7 fish with 3 lost and lots of knocks to keep us both on the edge. Halibut pellet socked in crab oil.
Main flow rod took 6 fish with a few lost and lots of knocks. Bait used, Hinders Barbel Blitz Elips Pellets
All fish between 7 and 8lbs.
Take a long landing net handle as water can be hard to reach with a 6ft handle. We will be going back.

12 barbel caught from swims near bottom of length. Best fish was 8lb 10oz. Caught on a mixture of pellet baits and a couple on boilies. River was up a couple of foot and coloured, weather was warm, dry and bright.
