Good day fishing for chub and one barbel very windy but still a nice day

Difficult day of fishing, windy, river normal with a little colour. Fished 0900 to 1800 on the lower section, beach area below the bridge. 3 small chub and 1 around 4lb. Tried float, rolling meat and feeder/ pellet through the day. Had one barbel take late afternoon but it slipped off the hook. A beautiful stretch that looks so ‘Fishy’ but left a little disappointed.

Static bait, mainly luncheon meat, roving tactics. All gosh from bottom of beat where efforts were focused.

Conditions summer low, bit of colour (vis ~3-4ft). Stable all day.

Arrived on a very windy morning to find 2 anglers fishing where we wished to fish. A quick chat with WUF to establish we had the beat booked. Then spoke to them, a bloke in the pub had told them it was free fishing! Which to those of us that know how busy Caradoc can get with the general public swimming, sunbathing,paddle boarding, etc. when the weathers nice, is a reasonable mistake. They promptly left to find somewhere else. Started fishing but the barbel weren’t cooperating and the chub not much better
