Tough day, if it wasnt for the fact that this day had been prearranged for some time I would have cancelled it. It was just too hot and the river just too low. Canoe traffic was really heavy from 0930 till 1600 hours and most were brillaint the idiots who were swimming in the river or being dragged behind the canoes weren't.

My Dad had a 9lb 8oz babel second cast and lost 2 of a similar size in the heavy marginal weed. I had a 3lb Chub on my last cast. River isnt very happy at the moment and my last three trips have been particulary hard resulting in my worst run in 10 years of fishing the Wonderful Wye.

Scenery and wildlife helps pass the time when the fleet comes through.....

Bloody hot and not a lot of fish moving around. Didn’t have a bite in the top section even though some of the swims screamed barbel. I caught all my fish in the lower section after fighting my way through the undergrowth.. Even had a eel.
