Had a day fishing here for my birthday and what a beautiful spot. Unfortunately I took my dog and on walking around trying to find a likely spot he found and ate a old baited hooklink so I had to rush to vets for an operation. Please all anglers take all rubbish home with you. Dog is now recovering and I will be back just on my own this time.
WUF Note: We were very sorry to hear to hear about this and hope the dog's recovery is going well. We cannot stress enough the importance of anglers taking all litter and unused tackle home with them. This is the kind of distressing incident that occurs when they don't and, unfortunately, it isn't the first report of a dog swallowing a discarded tackle recently.

Very difficult conditions with frost to start, strong winds and a very low clear river. We fished the top end above car park area with the usual feeder/pellet/meat/boilie without a sniff. After a nice hot bowl of soup for lunch we dropped down to the bottom field where we knew there is some slower deep water. I decided to trott maggots which was difficult in the high wind but did manage 2 cracking brownies 1 of which was over 2lb and a small grayling. The wife was still on feeder/pellet tactics and still hadn't had a bite, after a change to maggot hook bait she instantly was attached to a good barbel which matched her previous pb of 8.2lb. We then had fish steadily with the biggest being 8.8lb barbel and a 4lb chub. Thanks again Wye and Usk for the opportunity to access this stunning beat. Great access and plenty swims.

Difficult day with the river low and clear. Fished most of the available pegs in the car park field. One barbel exactly 10 lbs plus 2 small chub.

A cold day with an Easterly wind which is never a great ingredient for a successful day's fishing. However it is always great to spend a day on the majestic River Wye.
Fished a number of pegs but no real success, nothing really happening with different baits. In the end the most successful method was trotting with maggots, accounted for the 2 trout and 2 really nice Chub.

A tough day on the river, with bright sunshine for the most part and little colour in the water. Excuses aside, what a beautiful place to fish! The lack of action barely mattered and I'll definitely be back.

River pushing through with hint of colour, we caught fish in the meadow upstream of the car park on our first trip to this stretch. Fished pellets on feeder and caught regularly from our start at around 12.30 until 6. All fish between 5 and 9lb. Top day in beautiful surroundings.
