1 chub, 1 barbel lost. First time on this stretch.

River was certainly up a few feet with colour since my last visit in September with a lot of debris. The fishing was disappointing on the whole but I guess timing is everything like all rivers at this time of year. 2 chub, 2 eels and lost a very good barbel at dusk.

We fished for 3 days, river constantly rising & the colour of drinking chocolate. Fished Middle & Lower Court on day 1. Had 1 eel! Disappointing. Day 2, 5.5lb chub, 10lb & 8lb barbel all on plain meat, 4ssg link ledgered in a quiet eddy. Day 3, 8.5lb barbel, 4lb chub, same method as before. Never fished the Wye before and will come back, hope the conditions are better and will maybe try early September before rains come. Would love to unlock full potential of this beautiful river . River looked in good condition with some colour following rain the day before. It dropped a foot whilst we were there but the fish would not respond! We managed only 2 chub and 1 barbel between us.
The only disappointing element is that this beat has very few usable pegs - we only found 2 that we could fish, the others looked rather dangerous!

After two days unable to fish because the car was in the garage it was great to get it back making it possible to get fishing by lunchtime. Heavy rain on and off for most of the afternoon but still had a good session with the best barbel of 9lb 2oz and chub to 4lb 11oz all caught on pellet.

Good job we brought the pike gear, as only a few silvers were obliging. Definitely not a low water beat. 2 very tentative chub bites all weekend to 2 rods. CW outnumbered TM, but TM pulled out the big gun. Quality fishing hut provided. Shame Vanstone pool not part of beat.

Arrived about 9 am, same hot sunny conditions as at Lower Carrots yesterday. It wasn't until mid/late afternoon that we were rewarded with 3 Barbel - 9.5 lb,10 lb,and 11 lb plus 1 eel. All caught on meat, fish weren't interested in pellets.
