Fished the Rope Pool. Conditions hot and sunny and the river was very low. Managed to catch 4 Barbel, 5.5lb, 6.5 lb, 7lb and 9.5lb. All on Pellet and feeder. We have booked this stretch for tomorrow Wed 12 Sept, and will try another part of this stretch.

Middle Hill Court is always challenging but holds good numbers of large barbel. It was great to see the work done on access to the swims, much safer and well appreciated, thanks. We had a good day with around a dozen barbel to 9lb 6oz and a sprinkling of chub to 4lb on pellet and feeder from several swims.

Lovely day and river in good condition but bites hard to come by. Ended on three barbel between us, the best 7lb 6oz. A disappointing return for the amount of effort but at least M got his first Wye barbel.

5 barbel from 6lbs up to 10lbs 12oz and 5 chub up to 5lbs 8oz. All fish were caught on paste wrapped boils and pva bagged pellets. Fed swims often with hemp and pellet. Really good day in stunning surroundings just unfortunate options were limited regarding fishable swims in the pool areas. Will visit again.

Arrived about lunchtime in glorious sunshine, river looking well but with not a lot of colour. Was disapointed to find this stretch has been cut in half and made into 2 different beats. Luckily my favourite swim is in the section I was allowed to fish. Was not having much joy and a pike persistantly attacked my feeder as I retreived it but a quick change of tactics saw the 11.6lb tail walking predator on the bank. Once she was returned safely to the river I went back after the barbel and was rewarded with 4 bars of gold up to 9lb, lovely condition fish although one was slighty deformed (kink in body) but still healthy and hard fighting.
Lovely day in all with the mrs who sunbathed all day. You've just got to love this river.

Sorry to say, no fish caught this time, partly due to the fact this was the first time in about 20 years that I have fished a river and partly helping a friend with mobility issues. (Enough excusses) Despite this, we really enjoyed the day. Half a dozen canoes passed by during the morning, and as soon as they spotted us, they kindly moved to the other side of the river until they were well past us. There was quite a lot of colour in the water and it was running quite fast. There were a few weed beds in the place where we fished (near the upper limit). We experimented with various baits and rigs without success. The weather was breezy, but when the sun popped out from behind the clouds, it was quite hot. The river banks were accessable in the spots marked with wooden posts and we didn't notice any litter. Parking was so easy, which my friend really appreciated. A top notch day out.

We arrived to find it carrying a little extra water, three anglers chose to fish swims in top field and two went to lower end. Morning started well for one angler having 5 barbel by lunch time in lower swim and one in top field 2 barbel by lunch. We had a lunch break then resumed fishing the afternoon and evening seemed more productive with several more fish caught We ended up with 30 barbel to 9lbs 12oz and a handful of chub. All fish came to pellet and feeder tactics. Fantastic days fishing, very picturesque venue.

Second day of our trip and the river was still up and coloured. All three rods took plenty of barbel and chub. The fish seemed a better average size than on other beats, but we had to ring the changes to keep getting bites, the fish seemed quite wary.
