After arriving early I dropped Mick the other angler at top of stretch to ledger meat whilst I slipped on my chesties to roll meat on the pin on the lower stretch after a couple of hours I had managed 4 Chub to 2lb plus the target 5lb Barbel on the Pin which was a sensation to play! The temperature had risen well into the 20’s and maxed at about 26 degrees. After a lovely conversation with two of the other Anglers from Yorkshire who were absolute Gents in fishing the lower end leaving us to the top I returned to Mick with thoughts to set up stall and get on the lead and pellets to get a few more Barbel , sadly this never happened as what I presume was Heatstroke overcame me and couldn’t stand up let alone fish for the next 10 hours and felt horrific! Mick had plenty of Chub , lost a Barbel and landed one about 6 1/2 late on along with big Eel , his Chub went to 4lb.
Probably the most beautiful beat with back drop on opposite bank , fantastic day but could have been better for me , Thank you Wye and Usk and I hope everyone reading this protects heavily from effects of sun as my exposure was only 2 hours max !

Great days fishing again on Middle Hill Court. Fish were caught on a combination of bread, sweetcorn, meat and pellet. Ledgering, freelining and trotting all produced results. Well maintained stretch of the Wye. I did have to remove several metres of clear mono off some of the swims. Please take your rubbish home with you and keep the river clean and tidy.

Super slippery and dangerous banks, needs more work to improve swims for coarse anglers. One only needs to walk up to the Vanstone and beyond to see what is possible in terms of improvements.
Fishing Passport Note : Difficult access is exaggerated when the banks are wet (and also during exceptionally dry periods). The Wye is an SAC and SSSI, meaning the river and its banks are highly protected under law. There are, therefore, strict limits on what can be done to improve access.
