First half of the day roaming the whole beat picking up the odd chub from various swims trotting on the pin before settling in late afternoon in to a swim on the lead. Plenty of chub, ranging from 10oz to a little over 3lb. Average around 1.5. An angler fishing the top half looks to have been using large barbed hooks judging by the mouth damage on 4 chub caught. Couple of bonus barbel around the 5-6lb mark on the lead finished off a good day's fishing.

First visit to this stretch. Well kept and Stefan, the bailiff, very helpful with his advice. Mainly roved around the bottom field catching on feeder and pellet with a little trotting meat in the middle of the day.

Clear skies, big suns and hot out of the shade hardly makes for good barbel conditions. And today the barbel agreed.
4 of us fished 5 different swims down the bottom on bomb and pellet, hemp feeder and gb feeder, with a large variety of hookbaits. The barbel were 5 and a half and a proper little babber of a pound. Disappointingly we had one blank but it wasn't for lack of trying and he did pull out of a fish.
Stefan has done some cracking work on removing the fallen willow from the river and is nearly finished.

Not easy but a better day than expected. Very slow on static baits, majority of fish taken on float fished bread including one of the Barbel , the other Barbel and a few Chub taken on meat. Although most canoeists are polite, considerate individuals, apparently it's my "effing fault" that the odd moron amongst them doesn't know left from right. Apart from that and a few hook pulls a very pleasant day on the river.

Low river and hot day but beautiful, excellently managed fishery on which Stefan has done a huge amount of work. Good access to swims with ropes and steps. Thank you Stefan for the advice and fishery care. 7 chub, one barbel and a large eel on spicy meat.
