I turned into a weather man on Sunday and watching the river drop to 2.17m by bedtime I had some hope. I got up to 2.4m (peaked at 2.62 during Monday) but we’d already decided to travel so off I went. 3 of us fished and we found 3 swims with reasonably smooth water. Visibility was 6 inches max but the weather was perfect and we hoped the journey would be worth while. In the end we were chuffed to all catch in the flood conditions with the five fish (estimated at 4, 5, 5, 5 & 7) split between us. 4 to spicy sausage pellets and one to meat. A great feeling in very difficult conditions

Love this stretch always a pleasure to fish here. We fished in unfamilar pegs today due to river levels but still caught. Spread out the full length of the beat, usual groundbit feeder tactics

Another great session on this beat , the day started slow with 2 chub caught 100 yards up from the car park , then moved 500 yards downstream and found a few barbel and chub , we met Stefan on the bank who has done so much to the bank clearing swims and putting in ropes , must of our fish were caught on plain meat and pellets , it was a great autumn day on the wonderful river Wye !

No fish in the morning so changed swims as my first choice had been eroded by the flood a few days earlier, and for an old codger it was not going to be a swim for in the dark, so moved upstream 50 yards for easier fishing, Good Move!!! had 3 barbel and 4 chub on source boilies and Luncheon meat. Should have done better had 2 hook pulls (too long an hair maybe)

Understandably not as prolific as last time I fished the stretch. I think I'll struggle catch over 20 barbel in one day again!
The temperature had dropped quite a bit in the run up to the session so fishing was fairly slow. Both barbel around the 6lb mark and both gave a great account for themselves.
