Arrived at 9am just as the sun was burning off the mist, the river is low but it's a good varied stretch. We decided to have a walk and bait up various promising swims. The pegs near the car park are great as the have rope to help you clamber back up the bank in these low conditions, nice touch.
One decided to fish down stream of the car park near the end of the field and had a few small barbel and chub.
The heat was to hinder the fishing as it reached 28*c and it made life uncomfortable. I decided to have a go in the car park for a while and then went down to the bottom of the beat where it was slightly more shaded. At one point fish were spotted under trees close into the bank which were duly fished for. We tried trotting for a while catch lots of chublets, but it was tough in the heat.
During the afternoon as the sun went down below the tree line, fish were caught casting into the shadows. We had several breaks from the river in the shade but we kept plugging away. As the sun went down the river came alive, several barbel were caught amongst the chub, baits used pro sushi, luncheon meat, Robin red pellets. All pegs produced but with it being low it was best as the sun went down.
Overall a great day, hot but great. Well maintained stretch, plenty of variation. We will be back. Thanks WUF
A couple of large salmon were seen along with a variety of wildlife, I've never seen as many kingfishers. 1 commerant but soon moved on.

River painfully low and only came to life once the Sun had started to drop. Lovely beat irrespective and a joy to be in such stunning countryside. Great access along the entire stretch.

Barbel caught on both feeder & float. This beat really has been opened up thanks to work done by Stephan, you now need to walk the whole beat to see swims not available before.

Fished same swim as last week, on this beat, but found fishing totally different. Fished from first light to 6 pm, bites were hard to come by. There was a lack of bites from the small chubb, caught good sized chubb to 5 lb on float with luncheon meat. The only barbel was a fish of 7 1/4 lb caught at 7 am on 10 mm pellet. River very low and needs a bit of a flush through. However an enjoyable day. Thanks W & UF.

Never known it to fish so poorly here managing only 3 barbel, can only assume it’s to do with the chicken farmers.
