A few rises in the morning very quiet in the afternoon. One 8" trout on a black klinkhammer.
Lovely beat. With a pub at one end if all else fails.

Certainly a very pretty river. Extremely low water with weed and shingle showing. Long stretches almost still water but sufficient riffles to make it interesting. I think this stretch would fish well with water on it, perhaps another 18 inches. We caught 2 nice trout and 2 grayling about 7 inches and a chub about 1lb. Used small beige klinkhammer dry and a #16 PTN with a pink 2mm bead, either fishing dry or nymphing. 8ft #3 weight rod quite sufficient for this water which is not wide and easy wading.

No fish , sad to say. Very bright, water low and very clear. Saw one fish all day, it splashed at but rejected my kilnkhammer.

Really lovely stretch. Should have got more, fish rising but I was rusty as hell.

My first time on this beat. Very pretty location and great access from 'The Bell' pub. The large house at the bottom boundary is most impressive - it's worth the walk just to see that. I setup two rods (dry and nymph) but stuck with the dry for most of the day (Parachute Adams and CDC Emerger's). It was nice to see some Blue Winged Olives and Yellow May Duns. I seemed to work hard for four trout and one grayling, although I did lose a few - including one larger fish which snapped me (got a bit excited with the take!). Skenfrith is definitely worth visiting, the bottom half of the beat seamed to fish best.
