Very nice spot, perfect for easy wading and walking, few bites on dryflies no fish landed river low at the moment.

We fished from 1700 to 2200. The river was surprisingly colored, and a difficult wind. Our three fish were about 2/3 lb.

Very few rises despite lots of small insects (gnats) over the water + yellow insects emerging and being taken by birds (sorry, no expert at identification).
Caught one 14" brown trout on a nymph. Companion caught similar fish and two small (5") brown on dry flies.

A good morning followed by a wet afternoon. Water was 50% coloured but fish were rising and Mayfly hatching throughout. My one trout, an 8 inch brownie, I'm a newcomer to river fishing, took an Elk but I also got bites on winged nymphs and very small brown dries.
Most rises seen down by the end of the beat at the stream. An enjoyable day but cut short by the weather which can't be helped.

Perfect conditions - quite warm, no wind, overcast. But very little surface activity and only a few mayfly. We persisted with the dry fly throughout, prospecting likely spots but only getting very occasional tentative rises. One fish of two pound plus lost and one slightly smaller caught.

Total catch: 6 WBT 6-12" and 1 surprise sea trout smolt 7".
Good hatch of Mayfly and olives during the day, but most action was in the evening when there was a terrific Mayfly spinner fall on one of the upper pools.
This is a long beat, but you don't need to venture more than halfway down to find great fishing. The fish are pretty spooky, and generally you only get one chance – so cast carefully!
Will definitely be back.

Abundant Mayfly but fish only taking them sporadically. Surprising numbers of fish caught in faster shallow water between pools. Similar numbers of takes on CDC Mayfly and Grey Wulff, but much better hooking ratio on CDC pattern. Lots of trout up to ~ 15", and plenty of missed takes. Lovely beat in perfect setting.

Despite no rain for at least 4 days, the river was still coloured and in water deeper than 3ft. The bottom could not be seen. There was plenty of fly life on the water but only a very few Mayfly coming off. Saw no more than 10 rising fish during the day but tempted some nice trout up from likely looking spots. CDC and Elk worked well at times, We caught and released 5 good trout in the 10"-13" range. Pleased to catch one at the bridge pool at the top of the beat with an audience of 6-7 looking on from the VERY expensive Bell Inn (Sandwich for lunch over £10).
