Between us, caught 2 WBT to around 9-10". Beautiful beat with plenty of potential, cold water temp still a problem, insect life not plentiful yet.

With the river showing 12" on the gauge, both wading and the determination of any of the bed's features were difficult. The total absence of any rising fish or hatches of any upwing flies, also contributed to there being few clues available to determine the best approach.
We resorted to dropping beaded GRHE nymphs into the most likely looking spots, resulting in 4 small trout and 2 small grayling being caught.
All in all, a very enjoyable day and we hope that the next time we fish this beat, the water will be clearer and 6" to 12" lower.

A pretty challenging days fishing with lots of fast running, very coloured water. It rained most of the day and no fly or fish life was evident. Wading was only limited and tretcherous at times making it difficult to reach many areas of the river. I did hook one medium sized grayling, but it was unwilling to be netted!
Still a beautiful stretch of river, and I look forward to returning when conditions are back to normal.

Freezing cold morning with snow meant we could only get out in the afternoon. Good water level and easy wading. We didn't see any rises or any fish on the river at all. Reported strong smell of sewage and gas rising from the river adjacent to The Bell.
WUF Note: It is important that anyone coming across evidence of pollution report it immediately to the Environment Agency's emergency number: 0800 80 70 60.

Good days fishing, Very quiet to start but at 1230 the sun came out and had three brown trout in quick succession in the Bridge pool. All returned. Then too good a lunch to return to fish in the PM. Thanks.

lovely sunny day but not much activity on the river, several fish rising to a small hatch dark olives in pool just below the bridge in the afternoon otherwise river appeared devoid of fish. Caught 1 trout here on a small March brown ~ 6 oz. River was very low. Pools that were waist deep this time last year were only knee deep today so suspect river would fish better if we had a bit of rain. Do the fish move upstream when the water is very low like this ? The pools in the river just upstream are quite a bit deeper than on the Skenfrith section.

Good flow of water, no fish seen or rises, quite a chilly day & probably too early in the season, a pleasant blank.
