Two wbt, both 13 inches. One on tiniest gold head, other on pared down grey duster, size 16. Extremely hard fishing, with low water, ribbon weed and bottom blanket weed that regularly broke to the surface. Very little evidence of rising fish all day.

Disappointed to see that an earlier poster who pointed out the awkwardly placed barbed wire at entry point has been ignored - this wire is double stranded and at groin height. The owner should really have the courtesy to contain this for fishermen.

The weekend rain seems to have missed the Monnow but a reasonable summer flow promised better fishing than my two little Brown Trout (6") and even tinier Dace suggest (all returned fine). Olive Klink and Para A were on at the time with May and Yellow May imitations unsuccessful despite sporadic hatches. As it seemed only tiddlers were rising I was disappointed not to tempt anything to a nymph or spider, my failing as I'm sure the better fish were lurking there. Wading access is very easy on this beat.

Lovely stretch of water, caught 6 W.B.T. on goldhead pheasant tail. Well worth a visit, water very accessable, wading very easy, and there's a pub - what more can you want!!!

A blustery day and water slightly coloured..........I'm trying to make excuses for my own failings, I caught one small 7inch WBT on an F fly, my friend blanked but we both enjoyed the day.

Heavy rain night before, river real funny colour, after every cast tippet, line and fly covered in green slime, needless to say no takers. Pity as it looked nice stretch of river, just seemed very dead on this day, only a couple of fish seen moving all day.

Had a very enjoyable days fishing on this beat. My first time fishing the Monnow. The river was a little low but managed to catch 6 WBT, 2 on dry fly, a tan klinkhammer. Then 4 fishing wet fly on a pheasant tail nymph. All fish about 11 inches and all returned. Will try to come back soon.

Total of 3 trout caught (all returned). I had an 8oz 11 inch trout on a march brown. My colleague NH had two, somewhat smaller trout, of which he will post seperate details.

Addequate, mainly small fly. Few rises and most of them small fry of some sort. Very pleasant fishing thank you.

Fished with my colleague JJ who caught a very respectable 11" brown trout. Enjoyable day with some light rain during the afternoon. Hatches of pale wateries and some mayfly. Landed two small wild trout (up to 6")caught on a parachute Greenwells. Missed several others on a spent mayfly pattern and Tups Indispensible. Good sitings of Banded Demoiselles, Blue-Tailed Damselfly and Ringlet and Large Skipper butterflies.

A very nice beat, with yellow mays hatching sporadically throughout the day, although I did not see a trout rise to one at all. Plenty of rises to smaller flies, but I only managed 1 x 10" WBT with an induced take on a brown dry. The only thing that marred the day was a springer spaniel chasing a duck half the length of the river!
