Lovely day on my favourite wye water - good fishing height and great to practice with a new switch rod. No salmon seen or caught despite decent water height, though I did manage a small brownie so not a blank day. Will be back again in the summer to cover the hotspots once again and hopefully more fish around.

Couple of hairy moments wading the top of the Mill Race - Do exercise caution. Note to other fishermen the shop in Boughrood does coffee, but is closed 1-2. Pub the other side of the bridge was closed : (

This is the first time I have fished the Rectory beat and its associated pools.
What a beautiful section of fishing even though I did not connect with a fish. There was a small hatch of Dark Olives with the odd Trout rising.
I will fish this beat again a.s.a.p.
Many thanks to Dr.Stephen Smith for his help and guidance.
Regards

This was my first time at the Rectory beat. What a stunner it is too.... I stayed at the top and fished for both trout and salmon, and saw none of either.... There were lots of flies about and a few small parr rising but I hooked nothing bigger than a small grayling. I am looking forward to being here again and investigating further.

Lovely conditions, river with good visibility but no salmon seen or contacted. A very good rise of trout to Grannom late morning just above the road bridge.
