Height of water / temperature/ overcast conditions all perfect . No Salmon seen or any pulls albeit 1 x trout .

Covered the top half of the beat well , surely they have to be somewhere and more being caught up on the higher reaches with the recent lift of water . Unless they are ploughing through the beat and not stopping .

Fingers crossed for next time out .

Nine hours fishing today, covering the beat with fly and spinner. 1’7 on the gauge and a dark peat like stain to the river.
No salmon caught or seen.
The access to the upper pools is much better since the banks had a haircut. Middle beat access is ok. The lower part of the beat is another matter. The catches below the hut are only accessible in a few places. As the island is completely overgrown, a slippery , tricky wade was needed in dirty water to access the Neck of the Rectory and the Rectory pool. I’m not a shy wader, but at this river height I didn’t risk it. The overgrown vegetation at the waters edge further down is an accident waiting to happen and great care needs to be taken if you are unfamiliar with the beat so that you don’t end up in the river after stepping on what appears to be solid bankside.

A quick note, it looks like Himalayan balsam has taken hold at the Rectory this will become a massive problem if it’s not eradicated.

Great fishing between the torrential rain showers! We had a nice rise mid morning and had 3 to about 3/4 lb from the mill stream and then it went quiet as quick as it started.
The thunderstorms stirred up a resident salmon, also in the tail of the Mill stream, it showed several times, not fresh but over 10 lb. The hut was very much appreciated today!

Arrived early morning to find the river much more coloured than I had hoped. Llanstephan gauge on 1’8.
I fished a big bright tube for while through a few pools but was done and dusted by 10.00am.
Nothing caught or seen.
