The river was running steady at 0.9m on the Erwood gauge and with a slight tinge, albeit decent enough clarity for fly fishing. With such favourable conditions I was surprised to not have a pull from a salmon. I only saw one all day, a grilse between the Island and Rock pools. I had a small pike on a sunray shadow so that spared my blushes.
