River low and clear as expected, managed to catch a few trout and grayling between us although very small.
With the exception of one trout being around 14-15 inches and in excellent condition.
Size 14 gold bead nymphs of various colours seemed to do the trick in the deeper water, near the top end of the beat.
5 trout,
9 Grayling.
All returned unharmed.

A wonderful days fishing, but with the water so clear and the sun so bright, it was always going to be tough going.

Plenty of trout jumping, and a few bites, but we only managed to get two small browns to the net. One fish was caught early and one late, when the sun was not overhead.

Anglers always like to have something to blame, but in this case i know it was the clear conditions as I kept seeing trout shoot off as I lifted my rod.

The fish taking on the surface were all on the far side of the river, so we used wets or nymphs all day. We mainly fished from the salmon boards, to get to the deeper, darker water, but did a bit of exploring. I lost a decent brown at the bottom of the rapids (had the drag set too tight).

Saw a eel working around the edges of a salmon pool.

We probably only fished about 4 hours (early and late) as it was too warm at lunch time. Should have probably tried the rapids then, but it was as much a holiday as a fishing trip.

A very pleasant way to spend the day and I can't wait to go back.
