Once again, plenty of small trout action

Great conditions! Plenty of very small trouts throughout the day and 2 decent size graylings

No fish caught.

Mainly small 1/4 to half lbs one 1lbs all caught on small copper nymphs one taken .

River low and tea coloured. Temp hovering around 19C so only fished the faster, better oxygenated water with a trout Spey rod and de-barbed hooks. A couple of grayling to 14” and trout to 11”, otherwise small. Taken on a wide variety of flies but, only seeing one decent rising fish, I didn’t fish any dries. Six of the trout came from double takes to point and mid dropper.
All fish quickly to hand, nothing netted, and quickly released but a good number of others wriggled off.

Fished 7am-12pm then 2-5pm roughly, no bites on dry flies. 3 brown trout all between 8-20cm long on nymph. Largest was caught at the very top of the beat around 11am. Next time we'll plan our trip to target the evening rise.

Dry fly & Nymph. Beautiful stretch of river. Only small fry observed. Zero catch due to operator error.

Disappointing fly life given the conditions, only the odd rise seen

Only 6” on the Llanstephan gauge but water temp was 16.2C to around 17.5C later in the day. Most fish taken on an Usk Nailer and Woodcock and purple on a dropper with few taking a nymph. Some good grayling , all adult fish with little sign of any schools of shots, but the trout were mostly small bar a couple of 10”ers and one of around a pound and a half. As usual , very little surface activity. Had a nice chat with the beat owner out walking her dogs.
