Not a day for trout fishing, this! The river was in flood yesterday and the gauge was down so didn't know how high the river was. Took a flyer and went anyway ... To be honest it was a waste of time... there was not a sign of any fish of any species. Most notably, there was no sign of running salmon. I met a gentleman called Mike and he gave up at lunchtime. I plowed on in the hope, but to no avail. Better luck next time Mike!
Later in the day, the gauge was back on and the river must have been around 2.

Had a good day at Gromain today, albeit no fish caught. The river is on the low side but saw two fish rise in the middle of the Spring Pool. I picked up and destroyed a length of discarded nylon at the Heirag pool.
More water please

A very enjoyable day for 2 salmon rods (one could not make it). Only one small trout caught (on a salmon fly), but still appreciated the glorious scenery and quality of the pools. I hope I can return when the river is full of fish!...

NTR this morning, except accidental trout and a fish showed in Bridge Pool Gutter. Mixture of sunshine and cloud today, 10 inches on the gauge although I see the level picked up a couple of inches for some reason after I left.
