A warm and bright day with a nagging upstream wind made fishing challenging. The morning saw the best of the hatches with Grannom in evidence.
Fish were looking up and rose repeatedly to my flys, however so difficult to connect, perhaps they were coming short due to tough conditions. Persevered and had 2 to grannom imitations, beautiful day but still tough.

Difficult day on the Usk, high winds in the morning made even short casts tough.

As the day went on the wind dropped a little, and at around midday there was a small hatch when the wind dropped of completely. However, this lasted about 15 minutes before the wind resumed.

We persevered, and managed a few from the faster water.

River quite quiet today, not much of a hatch or fish rising. Caught one on a speculative March Brown cripple and hooked 2 others on nymphs which got off before I could steer them into calmer water.

Bright sunny day with only a brief hatch around 11.30. Fish willing to take a jingler for next couple of hours in fast runs. Best 14".

Around mid-day there was a hatch of March Browns which only lasted around 1/2 hr. I used a March Brown Jingler size 10 which worked really well. The fish are in the riffles. Even after the hatch had finished and the fish stopped rising, they could be caught in the riffles with this fly, on a speculative basis . Technically, I should have recorded a zero catch as all 8 came off the hook. These wild fish fight hard, jump out of the water and shake their heads, and its not possible to retain them with a barbless hook. There were olives about throughout the day but the fish weren't interested in them. At least I didn't have to unhook any of the fish! Good luck.

Hard going ,mb hatch 40 mins and over, managed 2 on drys (small). Rest on tungsten nymphs in fast water,up to 1.5 lbs.
Lots of pools quite ,but we need rain, possibly on summer level atm. Low and clear, 15 ft tapered Leader a must.
A guy was spinning above the bridge when arriving but soon walked up steam on seeing me,seems to be a fair bit of poaching on this beat, last time there was 4 boys spinning on opposite bank.

Cold. No hatch. Walkers and dogs everywhere. The beat looks great but I won’t fish it again on a Sunday. Fish to blind dries in the riffles

A small hatch at 11 am made a few fish rise which then saw me loose three in a row before the net. Lucky I managed to land 4 nice trout in between loosing another couple. They fight hard here for their size and seem very good at throwing the hooks. All were between 10-13 inch and caught on the dry. I had my best luck targeting the slack water alongside the faster sections, also the shallow riffles were holding fish.

Another lovely day, though quiet in terms of surface action. The only hatch occurred between 11.30-12.15, and accounted for half the fish caught. No fly thereafter. The rest were caught prospecting with a duo. Successful flies were March Brown Jinglers and emergers, Pinkhamers and Duracell nymph.
