After a night of heavy rain we arrived at the water at around 9am. Being the first time we have visited this beat we had a good walk to both ends during the day. While there was initially a lot of colour in the water this did clear a little during the day. A day that proved to be quite fruitful considering netting 14 browns (All Returned) ranging 1/2 lb - 1 lb. A beat that we will be returning to!!

A late night at the Clytha cider festival meant a later than anticipated start. Arrived about 8:30 fish sipping some very small flies from the surface. Unfortunately this kind of fishing needs a level of dexterity and skill that I have yet to master, so after a few hamfisted efforts on my part they soon lost their appetite. Nymphing under an elk hair caddis produced no takes to either.
Temperature dropped around lunch time accompanied by a stiff breeze. Had a siesta. Thought I'd give down stream spider fishing a go, great fun lots of tugs, 5 wbt around 10 oz to a pound landed and released.
Returned to the cider festival !

Looked liked a perfect day in lovely surroundings. Slightly overcast with light wind. Excellent variation in waters but not a rise all day from 11am to 7pm despite many hatches of flies of many types.
Fished most styles but only had a couple of tiddlers on gold PTN while fishing Klinkhammers on the dropper.
Not sure why so little trout activity but very nice place to spend the day.

5 x trout 8-12 inches. I arrived late afternoon, but still very hot with bright, blazing sun, and nothing happened till after 8 in the evening. A few taken - and quite a few more missed - on a Little Dark Watchet spider fished through the runs.

A glorious hot sunny day with a little cloud cover in the late afternoon. River at 10" on the Brecon gauge.
Two small hatches of mayfly during the day, but disappointingly no rising fish. We caught 22 fish, all on gold headed PTN. Best fish 2 lbs - 4 fish in 1-2lbs range
the remaninder around 1/2lb ( all returned). Curiously the fish went off when the cloud cover came and resumed feeding again when the sun came out! A really delightful day on this lovely beat.

Hazy sunshine then strong hot wind. Val took a half pound fish from the Bottom Pool in the morning. Three more small 8-10 ins. fish were taken on small adams in the pool near the top on the bend, where the challenging wind was less of an issue, and finally a one pound fish on a suspended nymph, lower down the beat where the rock ridges cross the river. Five fish for the day-best fish a pound. All returned. We noted that the sand Martins nesting last year below the bend at the top of the beat in the earth bank have moved to Sewage Pool- maybe because of the earlier floods?

Weather baking hot-around 28 degrees outside the chest waders! Two families of Goosanders seen today, and at one point swimming together-total two adults and eight chicks. Rising fish very scarce all day; apart from the heat, there is a scarcity of fly life for late May, perhaps a legacy from the cold conditions we have had and the high water. However Val opened the scoring in Llanobery Pool with a nice fish of 2.lbs on a drifted ptn. after casting to a rising fish. After a blank morning, I put a sz. 18 nymph through what I call Cynrig pool, where the river comes in, and was rewarded with a spirited fish of 2.lbs. Afternoon brought one more fish of one lb. from the pool on the sharp bend near the top of the beat. 3 fish for the day - all returned.
