Four trout caught on downstream nymphs. One during the day, and three as the daylight faded.

What day of contrasts! Started fishing at 7am. Tried every method and fly I could think of (except one - more later) but failed to get a take let alone a fish. By 11:30 I was hungry and tired so back to the car to refuel and rest.
It was at this point that I made the decision that turned the day on its head. I had come to this beat with the sole intention of not doing any Czech nymphing but as I had tried everything else I thought that as I was here to catch fish and all else had failed...why not. In a crazy two hours I had bagged 15 beautiful trout. None smaller than eight inches up to a stunning sixteen inch specimen. All came from the fast water along the beat with the best one from the water adjoining Abercynrig. I must remember to bring a camera with me next time.

4 fish to Wickhams Fancy and PTNs, all in streamy water below top pool. Two cormorants also on water.

Water was a little high but otherwise excellent conditions. Hooked in to two nice fish but both got off. Nice beat close to Brecon

One 13 inch wild brown on Hares ear Nymph. Released.

First time at Dinas since the it was separated from the adjoining Abercynrig beat. Good day weather wise with warm temperatures and plenty of cloud cover. Whilst there were good numbers of upwings coming off didn't see much surface activity but caught plenty of fish from the faster water using short line nymphing techniques. Sizes ranged from palm of your hand type stuff through to a couple of nice Browns around the 1.5lb mark. Tungsten beaded quill nymph proved the best fly on the day. Looking forward to returning!

Low water, but great beat. Weather was blowy and intermittent drizzle. Lots of rising fish. Very spooky and we didn't crack the code!
