Took two rainbow of about 2lbs each hard fighting and quite silvery in colour on damsel. Switched to dry and caught 6 perch, but no more rainbow. Lake went quiet from 2 p.m A hot day, no cloud. Stayed self catering at Llangwynidr, excellent. Also had a private day on 14th on a beat below Crickhowell bridge. Very few rising fish, but had a brown of 1lb on a hawthorn.

Caught 3 rainbows between us, 2 on a spoon and one on a rubber shad. Largest around 3lb. All fish returned.

4 trout caught on worm and about 20 perch.

First time at Usk Reservoir. As water quite full, fishing was difficult in most areas due to tree cover. I can see the benefit of a boat permit. No fish showing on surface. No entomology needed as both fish taken deep on Di7 with foam sunrise blobs. Needs another effort when water warmer and fish higher.

Cold windy overcast day. Plenty of perch biting but only one overwintered trout caught today.

Fishing from boat at the top end we landed 8 fish all in good condition, full finned hard fighting. The biggest 3lb others circa 1lb caught with deep sinking line all on dragonfly nymph.

Very warm and sunny great few hours fishing.
