Only fished for 1.5 hrs very windy had one tug and saw one fish jump. Had limited time as had to get back home to London. Will be back also met the bailiff.

12 Trout

Didn't fish today as 'holiday' things got in the way. All in all a great weeks fishing. I've fished Talybont on and off since the days it was stocked but not for 4/5 years. The quality (and quantity) of the wild fish as well as the catch and release only rule is a tribute to the non-stocking policy adopted for this venue but I was surprised to see only one other angler in the four evenings I fished - perhaps it was the heatwave. The huge number of trout fry in the feeder streams bodes well for the future. I shall return!

A two hour session between 7.00pm and 9.00pm. Two fish this time between 1 and 1.5lb, again in the river on a size 12 stick fly.

Fished in the early evening again and almost a repeat performance of yesterday. One of fish nearly making 2lb.

Still blisteringly hot so decided to wait until later in the day. Fished from 5.00pm to 9.00pm in the river at the far end of the reservoir. A good moderate breeze blowing from the dam end today. Several fish rising when I arrived although the temperature still in the high 20's. Four cracking trout in wonderful condition between 1 and 1.5lbs all carefully returned. Oddly, the fish went off the feed at about 8pm. Not a lot of fly on the water and was surprised to see very few sedge hatching but again very pleased to see the feeder stream black with trout fry. There were so many I had to wait for them all to get out of the way before I waded through the shallow flowing water. All fish fell to a weighted size 12 stick fly. A wonderful evenings fishing.

Booked five days on Talybont this week but did not anticipate the heatwave! Fished for three hours in the blistering heat at the stream mid way down the reservoir. A light breeze heading towards the dam showed a few splashy risers. Very encouraging to see so many small fry in the stream flow though. The reservoir was completely full to the brim. Gave up before I turned to toast. No takes to a small stick fly.

Fished for around three hours from 6pm no fly on the water and a cold wind for the time of year . Bumped into a mate who'd had five so maybe i was off pace a bit
