River a bit higher than expected and a large spring tide put it up a further foot for an hour. Will try this beat again when much lower as some water looks good for fly. Flying C and Devons this time though.

Just returned from a few days trying for that large Wye early springer with no success. Fished three beats Wyesham, Cadora Backs and Upper Bigsweir. A bit high and not many fishing but enjoyed all beats. This time last year had to wear neoprene but water warm, enough for breathables, even fishing one day in just shirt, in March! First time at Bigsweir and will return as some of pools looked quite interesting for fly although spinning heavy flying Cs and Devons were the order of the day this time.

Superb day at Upper Bigsweir, quite a few fish showing and thankfully managed to hook one! A 6lb coloured hen fish. Fly was an Orange Tay Raider and caught in the Little Run.
Being a novice, the ghillie Nathan's knowledge and guidance was invaluable and I was very well looked after. Convert to salmon fishing and will definitely be back.
