A good day despite the mixed weather. 3 beautiful grayling of 2lb, 2lb 2oz and 2lb 4oz. No smaller fish seen. Plus 5 oos trout. All caught on trotted red maggots. One of favourite grayling rivers, thank you to the owner.

Today's session was a last minute decision to sneak in half a days nymphng on the river in between the various floods we have had this winter. The river had a good flow on it but perfectly fishable. Weather cold first thing but it warm up over the morning. Access was generally good but I fished mostly from the bank to avoid any redds as far as possible. My last trip to the Leen some time ago produced several good grayling but today was a complete blank for me, not even a hint of fish. I know they are there as trotting maggots worked for others recently but my nymphs were not on the menu this tim e.

Well, the Arrow grayling seem to be scarce! The river was clear, albeit running a bit higher than is comfortable and the recent floods have changed the shape of the river in a few places . Fished all the way up through the beat as best I could with deep nymphs, the only takers being the trout. It's a lovely spot but not sure I'll go back for grayling.

River level still a bit high after recent rains, with some colour, so I wasn’t too optimistic. Spent some time searching for fishable swims. No fish until after midday, then caught two lovely grayling, one just over 2lb, one just under, from the same swim, trotting red maggot. Nothing else except for 3 small trout.

A disappointing day! The river looked in great condition with the flood water of two or three weeks ago having run off well and apart from the early fog the weather was cold and over cast so no excuses about the conditions. Two of us euro nymphed using tactics that have usually produced the goods but today it just didn't happen - we had one bite between us whilst trying to long line in one of the less accessible runs, and that was it! An experienced fishing guide told us a while ago that grayling can be put off by road salt getting into the river so perhaps that was the reason as after the recent frosts the gritters had been out and about, or perhaps the recent floods had moved the fish.

The river was well up and in good flow which made for careful wading. The fish were scarce and only some trout were tempted by the nymphs I used. A lovely day to be out though.

Very cold (-7 on arrival!) but sunny and surprisingly warm in places. Ice in the rod rings was an issue at times as was the scarcity of fish. Not a touch all day so a disappointing blank. I wonder if the cormorant I saw had more success?

River had a nice flow and slight colour, weather cold and crispy just right for a few hours nymphing for grayling. Caught three nice sized grayling (around a pound) all from the deep slow runs, fishing right on the bottom. First two on hares ear, then the last one on a shrimp. Some pools were tricky to fish but thats half the fun. In one moment of madness I was tempted into fishing a particularly enticing run, where catching the grayling was the easy part, landing it was another matter altogether, but we shook hands in the end and perhaps we'll meet again another day.

Despite heavy rain the day before, the river was still running fairly clear but was fast flowing. We decided to give it a go and fished for half a day. Deep pools and thick vegetation on the bank made access difficult at times. No grayling but 3 OOS trout caught to French leader and nymphs.
