Great day on a beautiful stretch of river. River pretty low and clear, bright day, but still managed 3 barbel to 8lb and 4 chub to 5lb caught on pellet/feeder tactics from road side bank swims. Good access and friendly fishery owner.

River very low and clear. Spent the first hour baiting and sighting fish. Only saw one Barbel during all this time from the bridge. Chub were plentiful. Started fishing near side left of the bridge and roved throughout a very wet day. Was hoping levels and colour would change but despite trying many tactics (leger, feeder, float, freelining) and a whole range of baits could only manage Chub. Was a tough day but no doubt the rain may improve things. All chub were between 2.5-3.5lb. Access to the water is great and its very picturesque. Thx USK.

A slightly overcast day, but cooler than the previous weekend. The river was fairly low and clear so I decided to opt for a single handed 7 weight rod and smaller fly sizes, which meant dipping into the sea trout box. I saw two fish, which I believe to have been Salmon, moving in the lower pool. I was unable to tempt them with anything, but did catch two Chub of about 1lb each on Invicta and Teal Blue and Silver patterns from the same pool.
Since I was here about a month ago fishing the Foy Fishery beat the left bank access has been cleared and it is now much easier to find the access points to the river.
NB for WUF - I noted a few stands of Himalayan Balsam coming into flower at either end of the bridge.

Got there 1pm fed elipse pellet off bridge to see if anything was moving as river looked like weak tea, without the milk ...soon got interest of several Barbel , set up stalking rod and waded in the river under the foot bridge , 1 swan shot paternoster banded 12mm pellet was instantly taken by a lethargic Barbel of around 7lbs on landing noticed 10 or so lice on the fish ! water very warm too. back to car set up trotting rod and avon topped ledger rod and chose swim before large tree over bridge ..fed mashed corn and 6mm pellet steady , again waded out 5m to get better control over trotting line , small chub from the off , up to 2lbs , several beautiful wild trout took a liking to single grain of Green Giant corn . Good fun for a couple of hours , came out and gave the straight lead ago with hair rigged corn , this saw the first Barbel only a small one around a 1.1/2 lbs , but this one fought well. Had to try the float again now ...laid on and inched it through for 3 more Barbel of similar size ..nothing better than that.
Back to car for a drink and off down to fast water road side , fed pellet, and some corn , to no result bait all coming back draped in the slimy green weed ? Charles ( the owner came down) and I had a good natter , as I sat on my box in the shallows and in the shade ledgering big chunks of meat at the tail of the rapids ....nothing ? walked further out added a 10lb fluoro direct to braid ,pinched 3 AA on 300mm from size 4 hook ,threaded on a huge chunk of spam and cast well down fast water and let it roll back across , first bite ripped rod round to no avail so fed some broken meat chunks and be 7.30pm had landed , 2 respectable old warriors (Chub) . great day again ..one little incident with our friends the Canoe brigade , one chap was trailing a mini plastic eel behind his canoe , hence to say even when I dipped my rod under the water he snagged my line , his line however was not match for my 12lbs braid , 40 plus canoes pasted me that day and I noticed at least 80% were not wearing any floatation devices at all !!!!!!!

Nice, quiet beat, I did not see a soul in 3h of fishing between 0700 and 1000, a couple of likely places for Salmon and a good pool at the bottom. No Salmon caught or seen but I will be back here for another go. Thank you.
