11 degrees and beautifully dank when we arrived. We've fished this beat a few times before but have only managed one fish each time. Today the river was still nearly 2 foot up, nice and pacey, and with a tinge of colour, so a bit more promising.
Two fished the woods (4 barbel and a chub) and one in the meadow (1 chub). I had two 9s and Steve a 5 and a 7 on GB feeders and mostly 14mm pellets. It seems to be a very snaggy stretch and needs careful searching with a bomb to find reasonably clear patches. Even then be prepared to lose gear. Also the banks down to the swims are quite steep and very tricky after rain so a rope and cleats are essential. But all in all, a satisfying day.

I fished several swims in the woods and caught 2 barbel (5lb and 7lb) and a 3lb chub all on various pellet baits in the afternoon.

River slightly high and lots of leaves coming down so we knew they'd be in the slacks, where I found 2 barbel of 5 ish and 7 ish pounds but O B could only find one chub. All fish came from the deeper, relatively calmer wooded section, on the lead with pellets and PVA mesh for feed.
Plenty of swims to choose from but the banks were a little slippery as one would expect after some rain. Gate, track and parking all a doddle - all in all a great stretch of river that usually produces the goods. Just a shame there's no pike fishing allowed anymore, can anyone tell me why that is?

Rained off. Didn't spend long there - 2hrs. Teaching a beginner, so most of the time spent educating.
