Late afternoon & evening session, barbel came late on. Nice to see eels returning but wish they would leave my bait alone! 5 of them, and not boot laces either!

A couple of hrs trotting meat and pellet this evening for 2 nice chub and 3 eels. Every time meat went on, taken by an eel and then a new hook length!

Tough fishing on a hot and mostly cloudy day, river low and falling, Ross gauge around 30 to 33cm. We put in a long day 7am to 8pm amd I managed 2 smallish barbel, 4 to 5 pound and a 3 pound chub. My compatriots were not as fortunate with one blanking and the other picking up a 3 pound pike on the retrieve.

2 chub
4 eels
Barbel LDR after 5 minute tussle.

Bottom of steps swim. Had to do some gardening to remove potential snags and create safe access for landing fish. Overhead trees have continued to encroach on casting. The offending branches are too big and too high for an amateur gardener to do anything about. Only a few seasons back three of us could just manage to fish here but it’s down to one now.
