Tough going in hot conditions but we caught one eventually in the fast water at the top end, on a spicy sausage pellet.

River 3m+ up, a lot of swims unfishable! Feeder and PVA bags!
This beat needs some work, could do with more swims being cut out!!! £22 for 3 fishable swims ain’t great!?!
Fishing Passport Note: River conditions of 3m+ will always mean only a few swims being fishable on nearly all beats. To change this would involve wholescale bank clearance, something that would ruin the wild nature of the river (one of the qualities that makes the Wye so special), as well as being illegal in a SSSI.

Great day on the Wye again. Make sure that you come from the A40 north (Fly over is closed permanently, which you can see on Googlemaps). Beautiful stretch of the Wye and river was up significantly after heavy rain. Fished top swims in woods, which were good and caught 8lb barbel in there (very snaggy though), late morning. Also, fished the middle swims, which were very fast flowing and caught the other barbel (8.5lb) here just before sunset. Great days fishing, with lots of bites all on bollies and pellets. The A40 is quite loud just to warn you. Will be back though

The river was at 0.61 on the Ross level when I arrived. Overcast and very mild. I thought I would be in for a good day, which it was for me. It was made difficult by a very strong wind which blew strongly and followed the river which made reading the water difficult and bite detection difficult too. I chose to fish closer in with the rod tip down which did help. Two barbel to about 7lb and a lovely one to probably 10 lb all taken on paste wrapped cheesy garlic pellets. Two small chub were also caught.

The other guy on today was in the swim we wanted but we still managed a couple of small pike on lures and a chub whilst aiming for barbel at the top end. Managed to clear the swim by the massive rock of the fallen tree and one across the main path so should be a bit easier to get around in future. The Japanese Knotweed has gone crazy in places!

Spent most of the day on the feeder looking for barbel but another no show, just a couple of small chub. So trotted maggot down the inside where the chublets were happy to oblige which was fun on light tackle, nothing over a pound.
The “other” was roach and dace. Damp windy day but very enjoyable nonetheless.

Fished several swims, had barbel in three of them. Used leads with pva bags and pellet hook bait. Good day, access could be improved to open up more fishing potential but we caught fish and had a pleasant day.

River up but going down after recent high level. Fished the swims in the woods, which are very rocky and lost a lot of hook links. Barbel caught on meat and pellets.
