I caught the fish on a float fished mackerel section. River was very clear. Details received from the Foundation for the beat were very accurate.

River was a little up but looked good, weather was mild and mostly cloudy, river looked perfect. All fished with feeders and mainly pellets and some meat. After an early barbel of about 5lbs and a good 5lb 8oz chub and a few missed bites, the encouraging start to the day went very quiet. 2 barbel, both 8lb 8oz, followed late in the day along with another chub of 4lb 4oz.
We all enjoyed our day there but not really the beat for 4 anglers to be honest. The one concern was a pile of lager and cider cans along with a hot dog container just left in one of the swims. Can't believe any decent angler would leave that and hope our European friends aren't visiting this spot.
Look forward to visiting the Wye as soon as we can again.

Swims unclear. Lots inaccessible. Litter on the bank. Beautiful place, ruined by lack of patrolling.

Only certain beats on the wye can fish in low conditions and this is one of them. Best place we found was the first four swims near the Rock. All fish caught on halibut and feeders.

Extremely difficult day we tried most of the pegs with no success. It didn't make any difference what method or bait we used, the fish weren't there. Finished the day on the peg down from the cottage & landed 1 barbel of 7.5lbs & 2 chub up to 4.12lbs. Lost a few fish. The woman in the cottage told us we couldn't fish on the rocks, however after speaking to the fishery owner he told us this was not the case & encouraged us to fish from there. However, due to the volume of canoes we decided against it. Very good access & lots of fishable swims. Well done to the Wye & Usk Foundation.

The work done to provide platforms has been eroded and needs redoing unfortunately. The gradients down from the bank are quite precipitous .... And as always ... On the most promising swims. Met chap who owned fishing rights who encouraged us to fish below cottage. Appears to be a dispute going on with owners of cottage. We would have had more success if we had fished later on both evenings. We enjoyed it all the same as we did the excellent Saracens Head.
