Low water level. Water temp. measured as 21 degrees. Barbel caught while legering, allowed to recover more than usual as a precaution.

Lovely stretch of river and nice day to be out on the banks of the Wye. Contrary to other comments there are lots of places to fish probably 8 spots in the woods and at least 3 in the field and we tried virtually all of them. Water level was low so you could actually get down to water in several places. The fishing was very hard just a couple of very small chub and eels. It was hot but not sure that was reason it fished so hard but we never got a bite from anything other than eels and chublets. Unfortunately there was a mass of green weed coming down the river that covered your line, hooks and feeders and made fishing pretty much impossible. It was a kind of silky weed not the ranunculus that Wye used to be full of. Not sure why this weed is coming down the river this time of year isn't it is too early for it to be dying back water has a slight brown tinge to it so maybe the recent rain washing it through? It did mean you were never confident your bait was fishing properly and constantly had to reel in to clean it off.

No fish from the gravel beach in the AM . Great spot but only 3 swims the whole length of the beat 2 of which are landing gravel beaches for canoe's. Don't park at the church you will have to walk a mile up stream to the first gravel beach. Like Thomas Wood which I walked in the afternoon pegs need to be established to warrant a £25 per charge good job as I was the only angler over the two days @ Wyastone Leys

A difficult day, river low and bright sunshine. Had to wait until sunset but 2 good barbel from the woods made the day. Both needed to be well rested but went back ok. Caught from pre baited swim with a small lead and long hooklength. One on krill dumbbell and the other on 8mm robin reds.
