River was low and clear , weather was overcast and raining most of the day. We caught throughout the day. Total 9 barbel to 9 pounds 1 ounce plus 3 chub to about 4 pounds. All on ledgered pellet. We had a few standoffs with the heffers and one particularly large bull that were in the field alongside the river bank , each time they eventually moved on . They appear to like the shelter of the bankside vegetation.

Planned to fish the float but the river was carrying a bit too much colour so fished the feeder . Used meat and pellets with meat catching the most . All in all another good day on the Wye. Good beat good access thanks WUF.

Overall, given the strong reputation of this beat, this was a disappointing experience.
The upper areas with the faster water are mostly unfishable due to overgrown banks and the number of closely growing mature trees at the river's edge. Half hour lost investigating upper beat. Drove to lower section, found two fishable swims with any depth/speed of water.
Bearing in mind £25.50 ticket price, it's not unreasonable to expect better choice and quality of swims - this might explain the fairly low number of bookings on this well known stretch of water.

Wet start to the day, river very low and clear. Baited and fished most swims on lower section with little interest shown. Both Chub caught early afternoon on rolling meat close to snags. Great day as always on the W&U waters, will be back.

The river levels were low and the water relatively clear, though the flow increased during the day. We fished halibut pellets over feeder fed halibut groudbait and pellets. No fish in morning from the orchard field. Five takes in the afternoon from the lower field of which four barbel were landed (4-9 lb). Three barbel and two chub were landed in the evening from the orchard field. Noticed a considerable number of lice on the barbel. Superb day's fishing.
