Tough day on a high and coloured river -1.38m on the env agency website. Fished near the parking in the middle of the stretch and the bottom of the stretch. Anywhere with slightly deeper water on your bank was worth a look for chub. We caught 6 really good ones on meat - most were over 5lb with the biggest nearer to 6.
Highlight of the day for me was observing an otter at close quarters - about 15feet.
Lovely beat but top swims in the woods were not identifiable in the high water so we did not try them.

Second day on this stretch dawned cold and bright, river levels had fallen overnight and looked in perfect condition, shame no one told the fish..!
We concentrated on the upper stretch and once again struggled to located any feeding fish using numerous methods, ended the day with 2 chub to 5lb both comimg late afternoon.
Removed a large bag of what looked like anglers litter (sandwich bags & cans etc, dated from early february.) from lower parking spaces..Is hard to understand the mentality of anyone that presumably took the trouble to take it from the bankside and then dump it on the road side.

Following a deluge on Tuesday night we arrived to find swollen brown torrent where once used to be the river Wye...! Needless to say optimism was not high.
We started on the lower stretch casting to any likely looking close in slacks and slowly leapfogged our way to the upper stretch, needless to say fish or bites were not forthcoming, by mid afternoon the levels had dropped significantly although still far from ideal.
RB managed a chub of 4lb and a barbel around 7lb mark both to luncheon meat, my brother enjoyed an entirley biteless day...roll on tomorrow.!

Great last day on river for us for 2015/16 season. As per the venue detail the Orchard entrance impossible to negotiate without a big 4x4. Weather running up had been cold and so Chub were the target, with the hope of Grayling, Dace, Perch and Chub.
Managed 8 good Chub up to 4lb 15oz and a Brownie of around a Pound, all taken on maggot, trotted and feeder fished.
Baited a couple of swims for last knockings with hemp and fished meat over the top, hooked 2 Barbel one took 40 Yards of line and then kited under a tree, and came off,
felt like a heavy fish. The second found a snag mid river!!!! On 12lb line straight through on a 2 1/4lb Barbel rod I was gutted to have lost them.
If river fines down by the 14th, with the rise in temperature whoever is booked in will clean up. Feel free to cancel, I can be there in a heartbeat!!

Fishing was very very difficult with the river well up and running hard. Tried to hold bottom with feeders or 6oz leads but with debris and leaves coming down that was impossible, and kept being dragged into the edge!!!! My friend managed a very welcome 4lb 6oz chub, his only bite of the day. Me? All I could muster was 2 minnows!!!!!! The fish all came on maggots.

Heavy overnight rain had made the River almost unfishable, it was a raging torrent! There was very little in the way of even moderately slack water in which we could present a bait, 5oz of lead was barely holding bottom in the edge. We managed to outwit one small Chub and had a very enjoyable day in lovely surroundings so will definitely return at a time when the river might be slightly less angry than it was on Friday.
