Fishing difficult on a low clear river but what a wonderful stretch with everything you need fast gravel runs deep sections and deep gulleys under trees. Tried touch legering and feeder fishing on both upper and lower sections but only a couple of Barbel to show late afternoon. Day was very hot and bright which did not help but still really enjoyable. My fellow angler had a kingfisher land on his rod tip which made his day. Lower section is very snaggy so lost and couple of feeders. Thanks again to WU for a wonderful stretch.

A great day on the river with the Barbel in great form. The fish were caught on boilies and pellet and ranged in size from 9 lb to 5 lb. All fish were in good condition. The lower swims can be prone to snags with a fair bit of tackle lost. With this being the second day of the season most swims had been cleared but, a few still needed to be cleared so it would have been useful to take a machete early in the season. An otter and a mink were spotted on the beat.

Fishing was a bit slow, all fish came on feeder tactics with pellet hookbaits. Some nice fish in great condition, the barbell ranged from 4lb to 9lb and the biggest chub went 6lb. Another lovely days fishing.

Drove up from Plymouth and stayed in Hereford o/night.
Fished here several times, prior. Magical. Had a new plan....my dream plan.
Armed with my new chesties and clip-on back bag prepped and loaded I set out to fish, firstly, from the top end of the beat, via the orchard, to park by the designated tree, so I could get out and sort me kit, pop over the stile and walk out into the river there for a heavenly hour or two, early in the morning, fishing for the Chub, Dace & Whiskers, then drive on down to the bottom beat lay-by, to fish from the field, from the prime Barbel and Chub swims, for the pm, until dark. What could possibly go wrong?
Was actually there, at the gates, for 6:30 (daybreak) - that's how prepared & excited I was. Got to the entry to the orchard and found, for the first time, the gates wide open, which was nice, if somewhat perplexing?
Turned into the orchard and couldn't believe me eyes, man!
Transpires they'd only (as is their right; it's their land after all) chosen now to prune ALL the trees in the orchard and pile ALL the cuttings 10ft high, 15ft across, EVERY 10yds, adjacent to the end of EVERY line of trees! So there was NO way through!!!
Tried; scratched both sides of the car in the first 30 yards and, in the half light, it looked as it got ‘worse’ as you looked down across the orchard …………… "Bu----!" Had to do a 10 point turn then to scratch my way back out again!
So THAT plan went out the window and I settled for doing the bottom of the beat for the whole day.
Yet ANOTHER one for my almanac! Why me? On the bright side, ’least they hadn’t drained it. The river. (And, yes; it HAS happened to me, on a lake in the F o D during a holiday break planned around fishing the said lake! Drained it, the week prior!). Never boring...

Nice looking stretch with plenty of variety. Fishing was very poor today, only a few bites to the 2 of us, 1 chub caught, barbel lost as light faded. Would fish this stretch again.

Fished 7.30am to 6.00pm, water temp.6c, air temp 16c, bright sunny day, light wind SW.
Track down the side of the orchard too muddy needed a 4x4.
Parked on the bend in the road. Fished 5th & 6th pegs into the meadow. Barbel & Chub caught on a hair-rig bunch of red maggots with a feeder of hemp and halibut pellets. Trout & grayling on trotted red maggots.
What a lovely stretch of river. On to Preston Court for the final day.

River conditions weren't the best, a lot of flow and a lot of colour. Nice beat, but I'd say £22 is a bit steep.

River very good condition. Very cold and banks very steep to the water. Beautiful place.
