Wasn't able to fish upper /deeper part of beat (nice chap already ensconced). Fished the mid section, not a sausage. Couldnt stay too late which may have been the key to that stretch at that level of flow.

Great river conditions but weed is building up now, caught the same chub twice, it had fresh bite marks on its tail. I suspect it was done by an otter that I saw 3 times. An enjoyable day thanks.

Fished from 11am through to 8pm on lower beat. Largest barbel 7 1/2 pounds. Cut weed constantly coming down river throughout the day which was a bit of a problem. However still managed 7 barbel. It was another great day on the Wye and Usk, thanks again.

Fished Wye for the first time. River low and very clear, weather was hot with some cloud at times through the day. Fished from 7.30 a.m to 3 p.m. but I could not get a bite all day on the lower part of the beat opposite the white & yellow house on far bank. The swim looked ok with a few feet depth of water in front of me. Used feeder with pellet bait & tried luncheon meat on the hook also. Moved to upper section just above the orchard and started to get bites off far bank to luncheon meat from about 5 p.m. but still no bites or proper takes. Very disapointing and I hope the Creel gives up some fish to me tomorrow.

2 barbel taken on a very hard day, as someone cutting weed further up river which meant we could only fish a few feet from the bank. All fish from lower part of beat both fish in great condition.

Second day of our trip on a low river. After a good ending the previous evening we were up at dawn hoping for more action. The fish thought otherwise and by lunch only three barbel had been caught. The afternoon promised to be largely overcast so heavy baiting was followed by a long lunch break. It worked, with a further 15 barbel and seven chub added before dusk. Biggest barbel was 8lbs 2ozs and biggest chub a very large but empty fish of 4lbs 14ozs. A great couple of days on a lovely venue. The farmer stopped for a chat and was very friendly and informative, being an angler himself. Lots of salmon were leaping out but no salmon anglers were about to take advantage.
